We started with one, and have subsequently bought two more in order to keep up with our high volume of food scraps (family of 5)--we use the three in rotation. They are very robustly made, and easy to use, keeping out pests and keeping in smells (although as another reviewer mentioned, the concentrated liquid that comes out of the spigot is quite smelly, although it's also very good for plant growth if diluted with water).
Dear East Coast Gardener, thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review, and we are happy to hear that it's working well for you and your family. We hope the spigot seal is secure, as this ensures that the liquid does not leak beyond the bucket! If it isn't, do follow our video on how to get it tight - https://www.thegreencollective.sg/journal/city-composting-in-3-easy-steps
The Urban Composter is super easy to use as a first time composter, especially in an apartment. You just throw in your scraps and spray, simple as that! I leave it in my pantry and there is no smell, except for when you open it. The smell of the food scraps is not offensive, but the liquid that comes out is, so be ready for that! I keep the liquid stored in a bottle and mix it later with water for fertilizer. I highly recommend buying two composters so that you can continue while waiting for the other one to further ferment. You can't beat the price, it's the best I could find for this type of composter. ;)
Hi Alicia, this review made our day! We are so grateful for your kind words. Thanks for sharing your review with us and the community.
Bought this at the start of circuit breaker and it’s been a really good investment with all of the home cooking we’ve done. Lid seals well and there’s not much smell at all. I leave it outdoors in my garden and there’s also no bugs which is great. Really easy to use!

To add on: Does what it says and the liquid is able to drain out completely from the tap because of how it's designed. Wish that the lid is sealed tighter, but I work around it by placing something heavy on top on the lid and it works. I do have an aerobic composting bin as well, but this is useful as a add-on to help me compost citrus peels, coffee grounds or other food scraps which i don't want to put too much of into my aerobic bin. The liquid spray helps to ferment the food scraps first so that it decomposes way faster in the soil later on.
