I’m doing my second round of composting now. Thanks to Green Collective who introduced me with this Urban Composter and bokashi composting method . My old thought that composting is only for those who live in house with backyard has gone. For those who live in apartment with neither balcony nor backyard like me...composting is possible
Hi Amalia, it's lovely to hear that you are enjoying your composting journey with our Urban Composter. Thank you for your feedback, and the team will be happy to hear this!
We have had a great experience with our composter, purchased in June 2020. It is easy to use, has absolutely no odour or bugs, and creates wonderful fertilizer (though a bit smelly) for our plants. We have recommended it to our friends. We had one "incident" where we waited too long to empty the compost and it leaked into a taxi :( so be cautious to make sure it is emptied regularly. This is entirely user error and not the result of the product. Since we live in a condo, we either empty the compost into our friend's compost bin in a nearby housing estate, or we take it to work to empty. Ideally, we do this every other week to avoid another "incident". I highly recommend this composter for beginners. It has reduced our waste significantly (one small bag of garbage a week), and this with avoiding single use plastic as much as possible has really helped with our environmental impact while living in SG.
Dear Elsa, thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review of the urban composter. We are thrilled that you loved your experience; our team will definitely be happy to read what you wrote. We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. So thanks for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again.
We started with one, and have subsequently bought two more in order to keep up with our high volume of food scraps (family of 5)--we use the three in rotation. They are very robustly made, and easy to use, keeping out pests and keeping in smells (although as another reviewer mentioned, the concentrated liquid that comes out of the spigot is quite smelly, although it's also very good for plant growth if diluted with water).
Dear East Coast Gardener, thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review, and we are happy to hear that it's working well for you and your family. We hope the spigot seal is secure, as this ensures that the liquid does not leak beyond the bucket! If it isn't, do follow our video on how to get it tight - https://www.thegreencollective.sg/journal/city-composting-in-3-easy-steps
The Urban Composter is super easy to use as a first time composter, especially in an apartment. You just throw in your scraps and spray, simple as that! I leave it in my pantry and there is no smell, except for when you open it. The smell of the food scraps is not offensive, but the liquid that comes out is, so be ready for that! I keep the liquid stored in a bottle and mix it later with water for fertilizer. I highly recommend buying two composters so that you can continue while waiting for the other one to further ferment. You can't beat the price, it's the best I could find for this type of composter. ;)
Hi Alicia, this review made our day! We are so grateful for your kind words. Thanks for sharing your review with us and the community.
Bought this at the start of circuit breaker and it’s been a really good investment with all of the home cooking we’ve done. Lid seals well and there’s not much smell at all. I leave it outdoors in my garden and there’s also no bugs which is great. Really easy to use!
Hi Jo, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this amazing review. We are happy that the composting is working for you.
